Recently, DeepSeek has become popular worldwide. Its system-level collaborative innovation in algorithms, models, and systems has achieved remarkable results through the mutual accumulation of collective intelligence and power. It brings infinite imagination to the technological breakthroughs and challenges towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and accelerates the pace towards universal intelligence shared by the whole society through open source and openness.
In order to systematically analyze DeepSeek's innovative exploration amid the intertwined evolution of technology, application, and ethics, and to guide everyone in gaining a deeper understanding of DeepSeek's "breaking out of the circle" and "taking root," the artificial intelligence research team at Zhejiang University has launched a series of online public courses dedicated to DeepSeek. Starting from February 17, 2025, these courses will be live-streamed online every Monday evening at 19:30, accessible to all teachers and students of the university as well as the general public. They will delve into how DeepSeek breaks through the ceilings of computing power and generalization, and explore how humans should build a new type of civilization contract that coexists with machines when they begin to understand physical laws and master social collaboration... Decoding the power of DeepSeek's "breaking out of the circle" and exploring the future world of artificial intelligence technology!

DeepSeek:
Looking back on the three major principles of AI and strengthening general education
Guest speaker: Professor Wu Fei
Dean of the Undergraduate College, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Software, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, and Director of the Artificial Intelligence Education and Teaching Research Center at Zhejiang University. Qiushi Distinguished Professor, National Outstanding Young Scholar, CAAI Fellow. Chairman of the Education Working Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence.
Report Summary
This report introduces the historical development of artificial intelligence algorithms from three major theories: symbolism, connectionism, and behaviorism, and analyzes the complementary strengths and weaknesses of these theories. Focusing on the hot topic of generative artificial intelligence, it introduces the connections between ChatGPT, Sora, and DeepSeek, arguing that the brilliance of DeepSeek lies in its system-level collaborative innovation in algorithms, models, and systems, which is the result of the superposition of collective intelligence and power. Finally, it introduces the general education in artificial intelligence being carried out at Zhejiang University, arguing that the organic integration of systematic knowledge, constructive ability, creative value, and human-centered ethics constitutes the basic literacy in the era of artificial intelligence.
Chatting or Acting?
-- Breaking Boundaries with DeepSeek and the Future Vision of "Zhejiang University Alumni"
Guest speaker: Professor Chen Wenzhi
Director of the Information Technology Center of Zhejiang University, Deputy Director of the Artificial Intelligence Education and Teaching Research Center, Qiushi Distinguished Professor, National "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" Teaching Master, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Informationization Teaching Guidance Committee, Chairman of the Educational Technology Special Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Higher Education Association, and Director of the Educational Informationization Special Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Computer Society.
Report Summary
First, we will briefly analyze the technological breakthroughs of DeepSeek and elucidate the driving role of reinforcement learning in model cognitive transitions. Then, we propose the viewpoint of a double helix intelligent evolution, where "large models provide the cognitive foundation and intelligent agents realize the value loop," exploring the synergistic evolution of the two in driving the transformation of educational paradigms. Through exciting examples, we will introduce the implementation of "Zhejiang University Teacher + DeepSeek + CARSI" in university settings, presenting teachers and students with a promising vision of "AI everywhere, AI for everyone" in future education.
