
It refers to the comprehensive inspection of the technical condition, fuel inventory, and cargo hold cleanliness of the vessel by an independent third-party inspection agency at the beginning (On Hill) or end (Off Hill) of the vessel leasing period, in order to determine the performance of the leasing contract and serve as the basis for rent settlement and responsibility allocation.
Purpose of Inspection
Determine the start and end time of the lease term: Confirm the actual condition of the vessel at the time of handover to avoid disputes.
Bunker Survey: Record fuel (IFO, MGO) and fresh water inventory for rent adjustment.
Cargo hold suitability inspection: Ensure that the vessel is suitable for loading the agreed cargo (such as grain, coal).
Equipment condition assessment: Verify whether the ship's machinery and navigation equipment are in good condition.
